POST GO NORTH CONSULTATION

The follow-up to the Go-North Consultation held from Feb. 22-24 at the Nigeria Center for Global Harvest, NEMA Headquarters, Jos. The focus of this follow-up meeting is to advance the issues raised at the Special NIMEC with particular interest in engaging those who have made one commitment or the other during the Special edition of NIMEC.



The meeting commenced with a heart rendering charge from the Executive Secretary of NEMA, Mike Adegbile, who reiterated the fact that the Nigeria Missions Movement is committed first to delisting Nigeria from UUPG list and subsequently respond to the huge needs beckoning in the Sahel and North of Africa. With these words, the ES prepared the minds of participants for a very serious task at the Post Go North Consultation.

On the second day, 23rd February, 2018, Dr. Chinedu Oranye, CAPRO’s Director for Partnership opened the day with a warm charge centred on “The Place of Sacrifice and Suffering, Partnership and Collaboration (Paying the Price to engage the North). He charged the participants to be ready to sacrifice and also collaborate for a fruitful engagement of the region in focus.

Pst. James Forlines of Final Commands Ministries, USA also brought timely words on The Model to Go North; he used this session to emphasize on Disciple Making Movement (DMM). Rev. Canon Tim. Olonade, NEMA’s pioneer Executive Secretary, took his turn to emphasize on the need for consistent personal walk with God in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The rest of the day was spent in working out the details, first by identifying the Unreached and Unengaged Peoples in Nigeria as well as vetting the list of the Unreached in Nigeria. Afterwards, participants were encouraged to commit to delisting Nigeria from UUPG list by adopting the remaining people groups on the list for engagement. To the Glory of God, the following are the commitments for the engagement of Nigeria’s UUPG:

  1. Damlawa- ECWA
  2. Busa – ECWA
  3. Duwai – Baptist
  4. Geruma – COCIN
  5. Gudu – Go Int’l
  6. Laru – UMCA
  7. Chingarawa – Living Word of Truth

Participants were likewise encouraged to step up their labours among the UPGs. Also, participants met in blocs for the engagement of the five countries of North Africa in view. Prayers were held and commitments for partnerships and collaboration were secured for the engagement of the region in view. The chairman of NEMA, Evang. Tokunbo Salami led participants to recommit to the Nigeria Go North Covenant while the Executive Secretary reminded participants to commit to the Go North Fund.

Rev. Yemi Ayodele brought the closing charge while stressing on the fact that, we are on a journey and God is much more committed to working through His people who are ready for Him. He closed the meeting with prayers of commissioning and blessings for all the participants. 86 persons from about 20 denominations, ministries and missions agencies were represented at the consultation.
