Executive Secretary

Michael Adebanji Adegbile

ESMichael Adebanji Adegbile, who hails from Ibadan in Oyo State, is the first of nine children born to the family of, Mr. Isaac and Felicia Adegbile. He had his early education at St. Peter’s Anglican Primary School and Lagelu Grammar School Ibadan from 1968-1978. He also had a brief stint at the Polytechnic Ibadan before proceeding to the University of Lagos in 1982 where he studied History and graduated in 1986.

Early Ministry

Bro Adegbile was converted in 1975 through the ministry of a Baptist missionary, Mrs. Kirk-Patrick, who was a regular visitor to his secondary school. This would perhaps be a seed that would later grow to become a ministry direction for him. While attending his first Scripture Union camp meeting in 1977, which was addressed by Rev Dr Mike Oye, the messages had such a profound impact upon him. Out of admiration for the great impact of the ministry of Rev Dr Mike Oye in his life, he changed his name from Michael to Mike. Since then people have called him Mike. Bro Mike’s first encounter with missions was during his Polytechnic days through his membership of the World-Wide Jesus Crusade. Since then he developed a passion for God’s global purpose. The university became for him a training ground preparing him for further ministry. Later he studied for a Master’s degree in Missiology at the All Nations Christian College in the United Kingdom.

Leadership Roles

Mike’s conviction led him to undertake short-term mission outreaches which took him even beyond the shores of this country since 1982. His Christian ministry has been a relentlessly upward career trajectory. As a student he was twice President of his University Christian Union, and later Zonal President of the Lagos Zone of NIFES as well as its National President in 1985/86 session. After serving with NIFES as a Corper Training Secretary, bro Mike was interviewed and appointed Travelling Secretary of NIFES in 1987. He served the Lord enthusiastically and faithfully for about five years in that capacity and he was promoted and appointed the organization’s Director of Missions. He was later re-assigned Director of Campus Ministry in 1997 and held that position until 2002 when he was appointed NIFES National Director, a position he held for eight years.
